A thorough grounding in the centuries old technique of sight size drawing and painting. Students learn in the tradition of the old masters, by producing drawings of plaster casts after Greek and Italian statuary. A sequential progression from graphite to charcoal to oil paint, this course is tailored to steadily hone a young artist's ability to see, preparing them for drawing and painting from life. This course is fleshed out by a weekly art history segment, in which art work from history is shown on a large screen, and students are educated as to how the art work pertains to their work.
