To those with little or no experience in art, the world of drawing and painting can be both exciting and intimidating. This course is specifically designed to welcome the new student and to educate them in the most important bedrock concepts. From learning how to select paper to understanding basic geometry, from discovering different types of charcoal to observing the flow of light over form, this course teaches students how representational, three dimensional drawing and painting is really a visual language of symbols and can be learned. Past students of this course unanimously attest that the educational offerings of this course strip away intimidation and usher the novice into the arts.
