Applied Art: Graphic Novel Design for Middle and High School Students

Today more and more artists and illustrators have been working with authors and publishers to create unique art for the graphic novel.

Here the artist has not only a forum to utilize their drawing skills but also to delve further into commercial creative realms. In this class, the student will first conceptualize a theme, characters, protagonists and antagonists for his or her novel. They will then conceptualize and execute up to three frames which incorporate one or more characters, as well as background environment settings. This will teach the student not only to draw with consistency but also to create and compose each frame with dynamic drawing and eye-catching action.

Please note: the student does not need prior experience or knowledge of creating a graphic novel, only the imagination and desire to see a simple idea grow into an exciting creative visual platform.
